The Cap 40 Gala is an annual event which aims at promoting business or individuals for their outstanding performance and contribution to the French-South African business community in the Western Cape.
This year was the 4th edition of the Gala and took place at Radison Blu Hotel, Waterfront. We can proudly say that more than 270 people were attending this great evening, that is to say 100 more than last year!
After the cocktail on the deck, the attendees were invited to the Award Ceremony directed by the Pechakucha MC, Andrew Fletcher Cole. The evening started by speeches from the Chargée d’Affaires of France in South Africa Charlotte Montel and the Executive Deputy Mayor of Cape Town Ian Nelson.
Here are the different awards that were given during the ceremony, and the winner of each prize .
Best Speaker of the year : One of the Cap40 speaker of this year has been awarded for his relevant and fascinating talk.
Winner: Jerome Touze—WAYN
Young Entrepreneur of the Year: This award honored the women or men under 35 years old who created the business that help our economy grow!
Winner: Aminata Ndyaye — Ikhaya Mossi
Gout de France : We awarded the best chef that promoted our French tastes in the Western Cape. Our heritage, our cuisine, our wines … More than savored, it’s a patrimony that should be built-up and showcased.
Winner: Franck Dangereux—The Food Barn
Trade & Investment : This prize sponsored by Wesgro was designed to reward the French company that
invested in the best way in Western Cape economy.
Winner: Romain Sormani—Total Energies Nouvelles
French Tech Initiative :We prized the best tech product or service of the year. Apps, telecommunications, electronic, IT…
Winner: Tuskan Owen-Thomas—Yethu
After the Ceremony, the guests gathered to have diner with the Radison’s delights and to network, celebrating the end of the year. The boldest of them ended up at the after party at The French Touch, a new French club in town.
