Personal history with South Africa and France

A born and bred Capetonian, I left for France in 2005 to complete a Master's degree in translation (Institute of Translators and Interpreters, Strasbourg). I then started working as a translator in Paris, and two years swiftly turned into nine. Missing the fresh air, sunlight and happy faces of Cape Town, I returned to the Mother City in 2014. I now have dual French and South African citizenship and work as a freelance French-English translator, English copywriter and part-time lecturer in French at the University of Stellenbosch.

Professional Background

One year as bilingual assistant to the Director-General of UNESCO, followed by 3 and a half years as an in-house translator at Technicis, a translation agency based in Paris. Since early 2012, I have been working as a freelance translator and copywriter for clients in France and South Africa. My fields span corporate communications, financial translations, marketing and general editorial texts, the luxury industry, and literature.
