Marianne Wine Estate is a boutique estate located on the slopes of the majestic Simonsberg Mountain (10min from Stellenbosch, 45min from Cape Town), tucked away amongst citrus orchards, gardens and manicured vineyards. The estate has been producing small batches of award winning wines for the last ten years. Having undergone extensive renovations in 2013, the estate now also offers guest accommodation and one of the most striking and unique wine tasting rooms in the region. The tasting room and deck offer unmatched views of the Cape Winelands and Table Mountain.

Marianne is a youthful and dynamic company, constantly evolving and growing. As an intern at Marianne you will be required to participate in all aspects of the business and be involved intimately in all these facet. In true start-up style, you will need to be organized but flexible, hard-working, sales and customer-centric, and able to juggle both long term projects and last-minute emergencies.

Mission

This internship will be a true immersion in a boutique wine estate business. You will be asked to split your time between the customer-facing, sales-driven operation of the tasting room and assisting the Managing Director of the company on various projects. Equal in importance, the two facets of this internship will expose you to a rare breadth and depth of experiences. By nature, this opportunity will provide you with inside both into management but also the crucial execution and operations. Lastly, you will be exposed to the challenges of a young company in a developing country. You will report alternately to the Managing Director and the Tasting Room Managers.

Ideally we are looking for candidates to stay a minimum of 6 months – from ASAP until December or January to July.

Hospitality/Tasting Room:

  • Welcome and greet visitors
  • Tasting room support management
  • Front desk – tasting booking & organization
  • French cellar tour (full Marianne experience)
  • Brand ambassador (trade show and events)

General Management:

Assist general manager in all his daily tasks including:

  • Sales, Marketing, Finance, Logistics, and Exports
  • Market study, Data bases, data analysis
  • Reporting (tasting room, financial, guesthouse)

Personal requirements:

Professionalism, adaptability, high energy, organization, project management and presentation skills, sales

Requirements: Fluent English - Driving license

Important:

The company will provide accommodation on the estate but meals will not be provided.

You will be required to rent a car.

You will receive R 2500 per month for your every day expenses – remember that there are other costs involved depending on you desire to travel and explore the region.
