Short Biography of Anton Groenewald
Anton is currently the Executive Director of Tourism, Events and Marketing in the City of Cape Town. This portfolio includes Tourism, Events, Film, Arts and Culture, City Marketing and Strategic Assets. His key role is to provide institutional direction for the drafting implementing and management of strategy to deliver Cape Town as a global brand and destination through this portfolio.
He is also a former Director, Chief Director and Acting Deputy Director-General of Policy and Strategy in the Department of the Premier of the Western Cape Government from 2006 to 2012.
He studied at the universities of Cape Town, Stellenbosch and UNISA. The fields of study included majors in Economics, Applied Economics and Economic History. His post graduate work focussed on Business, Economics and Economic Policy. His personal Interests include cycling, mountain biking, and really bad golf.
